Hazel found some cheap tickets online for Waitress The Musical and we couldn’t turn them done. I love going to the theatre and watching a good show. The musical was showing at the Adelphi Theatre on the Strand just a small walk from London Charing Cross Train Station. I heard good reviews and it was a show I wanted to see.
We decided to make an evening of it so Hazel booked Ping Pong Restaurant for Dim Sum. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived but gradually started to fill up as time passed. The waitress advised to select 4-5 dishes to feel full and you can order more if needed. There was so much to choose from on the menu but we picked the following:
- Honey Glazed Ribs
- Crispy Duck Spring Roll
- Spicy Chicken and Chinese Vegetable Dumpling
- Pork and Prawn Shu Mai
- Black Prawn Dumpling
- Plain Rice
The dishes came out one by one and the aroma was tantalising. Each dish was well seasoned and full of flavour. The meat on the ribs was tender and succulent. The dumplings were cooked to perfection and the rice completed the meal. My favourite dish was the Black Prawn Dumpling which had subtle but unique flavours. The total bill came up to ยฃ44 which included soft drinks and service charge. Overall, the food was delicious and we received a good service.

Once we finished dinner we made our way to the theatre which was only a 2-minute walk from the restaurant. As soon as we entered the theatre doors we smelt an amazing scent of apple pie. The Theatre was selling mini pies for ยฃ7 which included salted caramel and chocolate. I was surprised how packed it was for a Monday performance. We had great seats in the dress circle.
The show was amazing and I laughed throughout the whole performance. The show is about a waitress called Jenna who dreams of leaving her husband and opening up her own pie shop. We follow her journey as she goes through her ups and downs whilst baking some amazing pies. The lead who played the role of Jenna’s voice was unbelievable (I’m not sure if it was Katherine McPhee). Her voice was powerful but she made it look so effortless. She is very talented and will go far.
would definitely recommend going to watch the show if you like to laugh and love a good song. I wouldn’t recommend the show for children as there were some racy scenes.
