A Spa Escape with a Historic Twist

I visited the Courthouse Hotel Shoreditch for a spa day with my friend to celebrate her birthday, and it turned into a truly memorable experience.

The spa staff were welcoming, and although the spa itself was quite compact, it offered a lovely pool with jets, a sauna, a steam room, and even a gym. It was just the kind of place where you could unwind and switch off.

The highlight was a 50-minute massage that was so soothing I fell asleep twice. We floated out of there feeling completely relaxed and finished our spa experience with a celebratory glass of Prosecco.

Afterwards, we headed up to the rooftop terrace, Upper Fifth Shoreditch, which boasts stunning views. At 4pm, we had it all to ourselves. The vibe was lovely with a tempting menu of cocktails and food, though we decided to go elsewhere for a full meal.

As we were leaving, I was snapping a few pictures of the hotel when Vlad, one of the Front of House staff, kindly offered to give us a tour. It was fascinating to learn about the building’s history—as a former police station and courthouse—and see how they’ve transformed original jail cells into cozy, stylish spaces. The story behind the décor really added a deeper layer to our visit.
