Las Iguanas at the O2

My friend Andrea and I were going to watch Avengers End Game but due to the London Marathon most roads were closed so we ended up missing the showing we booked. The next showing wasn’t until 2 hours later so Andrea suggested we go to Las Iguanas as they had 2 for 1 on cocktails. I was starving so I wasn’t going to say no. Las Iguanas is a Latin American Restaurant and they have several branches in London as well as around the UK.

When we walked through the door, Latin music was playing in the background so you felt like you wanted to dance the salsa.We were quickly seated and handed menus by the friendly waiter. There are a variety of cocktails to choose from for the 2 for 1 deal which is great as normally when you have these deals they are restricted to a small selection. I went for the Malibu Swizzle which was Malibu, Falernum, Lime, Funkin Passion Fruit, Pineapple and Bitters. Andrea chose the Pink Pineapple Punch which consisted of Havana Club 3 Yr Rum, Wray & Nephew Overproof Rum, Falernum, Pineapple and Lime. You have to order the same cocktail to get the 2 for 1 deal. My cocktail was very refreshing but I couldn’t taste the alcohol. It was also overflowing with ice so it felt like there was more ice then drink. The cocktails were about £12 each so 2 cocktails for £12 is a bargain.

I was so hungry that when I looked at the menu I wanted to eat everything. I selected the Gaucho Steak from the Argentinian section of the menu. The dish was made up of 10oz Sirloin Steak sprinkled with Ancho Chilli Salt, served with Smoky Herb Chimichurri, Argentine-style roasted Sweetcorn Purée and fries. My food arrived and it looked appetising. The steak was cooked just right and the smoky herb chimichurri added an amazing flavour. The side of sweetcorn purée was delightful with a hint of chilli.
