If you’re looking for one of London’s most iconic pies, Holborn Dining Room in Holborn should definitely be on your list. Known for its handmade, beautifully crafted pies and seasonal flavours, this restaurant has become a go-to spot for comfort food lovers and anyone craving a hearty British classic.
Here’s my full review — from cocktails to mains, service, atmosphere, and whether the famous pies are worth the £32 price tag.

⸻
📍 Location & Ambience
Holborn Dining Room
56 Lincoln’s Inn Fields
London WC2A 3LJ
The restaurant sits inside the Rosewood London, one of the city’s most beautiful hotels, and during Christmas it transforms into a festive dream — sparkling lights, elegant Christmas trees, and a warm, cosy feel the moment you walk in.
We were seated in a comfortable booth and immediately greeted by friendly, attentive staff. The service throughout the evening was warm and welcoming, which set the tone for a relaxed dining experience.

⸻
🍸 Cocktails: Pretty but Not the Highlight
We started with cocktails:
• Somerset Fizz – £20
• The Rambler – £20
The cocktails looked lovely but weren’t our favourites. Hazel’s cocktail was actually removed from the menu the same evening, and while mine was okay, I wouldn’t order it again. If you’re visiting, I recommend going straight for the wine or soft drinks.

⸻
🥧 The Famous Pie Experience
Holborn Dining Room is best known for its beautifully crafted pies, and they introduce a new pie each month — which gives you a reason to return again and again.
We ordered:
Braised Beef & Bone Marrow Pie – £32
For sides:
• Chips (Hazel) – £8
• Mash potatoes – £8
• Cauliflower cheese – £8
The pie arrived with a peppercorn sauce, and from the first bite we knew why this place is so popular.
✨ The beef was tender and succulent
✨ The pastry was perfectly golden and buttery
✨ The flavours were rich, savoury, and comforting
It was filling, delicious, and easily the star of the meal.

⸻
🍬 Sweet Ending
To finish, we were served a piece of fudge and a small sweet. The fudge was delicious — creamy and rich. The sweet, however, wasn’t our favourite.

⸻
🐟 Other Menu Options
If pies aren’t your thing, Holborn Dining Room also offers seafood dishes, British classics, and lighter options. But honestly — the pies are the main attraction and absolutely worth visiting for.

⸻
⭐ Final Verdict: Should You Try It?
Yes — especially if you love pies.
Holborn Dining Room delivers on flavour, atmosphere, and service. The cocktails weren’t memorable, but the pies absolutely were. For £32, you get quality ingredients, generous portions, and a beautifully made dish.
I’ll definitely be returning to try their monthly specials.
