Hazel and I were having a random catch up and we decided to go for a meal in Greenwich. There are a variety of restaurants to choose from and in the end we agreed on Bills Restaurants. I’ve driven past the restaurant on a regular basis but never had a chance to visit it until now.
We received a friendly welcome as we arrived and were seated in a lovely booth. The restaurant was quiet and only had a few tables booked. We were given 2 menus; a standard menu and a set menu. I had an appetite so chose the Diner 3 course set menu for £20.50 which is a bargain. The set menu is available Sunday to Thursday from 5pm until the restaurant closes. There is a variety of dishes to select from the menu.
For the starter, I chose Crispy Fried Cauliflower with kimchi, pickled red onions and red pepper dressing. The coating on the cauliflower had a funny texture and it’s not something I will order again but I’m happy I gave it a try. I wish I went for the Chicken and Sesame Dumplings instead but it’s just another excuse to visit again. I fancied a glass of prosecco so ordered one and it was only £5.95.
My main was the tasty Pan Fried Chicken and Wild Mushrooms. The dish was made up of chicken breast with herbed mashed potatoes, long stem broccoli and a creamy wild mushroom sauce. It tasted amazing and full of flavour with the mushroom sauce and herbed mash.
The dessert was my favourite dish. I went for the Warm Mini Cinnamon Doughnuts with fresh strawberries, warm chocolate and salted caramel dipping sauces. They were delicious and I couldn’t stop eating them even though I was full.
The bill came up to £62 which included two 3 course meals, drinks and service charge. The restaurant was busy by the time we left which shows how popular is it. Overall, the food was delicious and it was local treat.
