End of 2019 Catchup at The Ivy Canary Wharf

What better way to end 2019, than with a delicious meal amongst friends. Hazel made a reservation at The Ivy Canary Wharf also known as The Ivy in the Park. The restaurant is located in Canada Square Park and a short walk from Canary Wharf DLR Station.

The decor was amazing from the outside in, with an array of lights, colours and florals. The restaurant was quiet with a few seats taken but as the night went on it became packed. We were seated in a lovely booth in the corner of the restaurant. I loved the colourful artwork comfortable seating.

The menu had a selection of reasonably priced dishes to choose from including Starters, Mains, Sandwiches and even Afternoon Tea which will be added to Hazel and I’s List of Things to Do in 2020. I was torn between 2 dishes on the menu; Aromatic Duck Curry or Chicken Milanese. I opted for the Duck Curry with Jasmine Rice and Hazel chose the Fish and Chips.

The curry sauce was creamy with coconut and a subtle hint of chilli. I always order a chicken curry when choosing a curry dish at a restaurant so I thought I would try something new by trying the duck. It was cooked perfectly and the duck flavours blended well with the coconut. The only downfall was some fatty pieces with the duck. Hazel’s Fish and Chips looked appetising and the portion size was very generous. I tried a piece of fish which was moist and fleshy.

Hazel and I opted for the Farmhouse Fruit Bowl Mocktail to go with our meals. It was a refreshing blend of flavours with Pear, Morello Cherry, Apple and Lemon finished off with Rhubarb and Cardamom Soda. It was amazing and only lasted a few sips.

To end the evening we ordered a dessert each. Rum Baba and Chocolate Bombe which was a bit of a performance as the waiter poured hot salted caramel over the top revealing the honeycomb centre. The Rum Baba was sponge soaked in rum with Chantilly Cream and Raspberries.

Overall, the food was good and we received a great service. The bill was reasonable at £36.76 each and we will definitely be coming back to try the Afternoon Tea.
