Dinner at Mercante

Michelle and I were planning to meet and I fancied doing something spontaneous so suggested dinner.

Mercante is located within the Sheraton Hotel on Park Lane. I found an offer on Bookatable; 3 course meal with a glass of Prosecco for £29 per person.

As soon as we arrived, we received a friendly welcome. We were escorted to a lovely booth in the corner. The restaurant had homely wood decor with hints of yellow.

There was a variety of dishes to choose from on the menu. We ordered the following:

Starters

I ordered the Purgatorio which was Baked Eggs with Mozzarella and Tomatoes. It was delicious with the melted mozzarella and sweet tomatoes. Michelle chose the Caprese which was Burrata And Heritage Tomato. We were also given a glass of Prosecco which was nice and sweet.

Main

For the main course I opted for the Chicken Peperonata which consisted of Confit Chicken Thigh and Green Peppers. The chicken skin was lovely and crisp, paired with moist chicken. Michelle picked the Sea Bass accompanied with Sicilian Orange, Fennel & Black Olives Salad.

Dessert

I chose the Chocolate and Limoncello Cannoli. I wasn’t overly impressed but it was filling. I thought the texture would be more like a cake but it was crunchy. Michelle went for the Tiramisu which she said was delicious.

The total bill came up to £40 which was less than the offer.  It was definitely a bargain and I left feeling full. Overall there was a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and great food.
