Mary Quant Exhibition at the V&A

My friend Kate and I hadn’t met up in a while, so when she suggested going to the Mary Quant Exhibition at the V&A, I couldn’t refuse. I love fashion and museums, so I thought what a great combination for a Saturday afternoon?

The V&A is located in Knightsbridge and a short walk from South Kensington Tube Station. Mary Quant is an English Fashion Designer and an icon for many. Tickets for the exhibition cost £12.00 and will run until Sunday 16th February 2020. Check out tickets here.

The exhibition covered Mary Quant’s journey through fashion over the years. A variety of key fashion pieces were on display, from brightly coloured capes to sparkly tights and makeup. Videos from Mary’s models, colleagues and customers were playing in different areas of the exhibition, explaining their experiences with the idol. Mary brought change to British Fashion and it was her aim to design clothes that made a statement. A lot of the pieces displayed reminded me of what’s currently in the shops today. It just shows you how things can come back around.

After the exhibition, Kate and I had lunch in the V&A cafe which was beautiful with its stunning decor. I have been going to the V&A for years but I had never visited their cafe.  They have a range of food choices from hot dishes to sandwiches and salads. I ended up choosing the Aubergine and Parmesan Tortellini which was divine.

Overall, the exhibition was great and gave me the opportunity to learn about the talented designer. Mary’s designs were bold, colourful and could still be worn to this day. If you love fashion, I would recommend you check out the exhibition.
